About Slavic People

Eastern Europeans are largely comprised of Slavs, the most numerous ethnic and linguistic body of peoples in Europe, residing chiefly in eastern and southeastern Europe but extending also across northern Asia to the Pacific Ocean. Slavic languages belong to the Indo-European family. Customarily, Slavs are subdivided into East Slavs (chiefly Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians), West Slavs (chiefly Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, and Wends, or Sorbs), and South Slavs (chiefly Serbs, Croats, Bosnians, Slovenes, Macedonians, and Montenegrins). Bulgarians, though of mixed origin like the Hungarians, speak a Slavic language and are often designated as South Slavs.

The Dubinetsky Family

Eastern European Ambassador Family

Eastern European Ambassador Family

Please meet our Eastern European Ambassador family.

We are the Dubinetsky family of 7 with Slavic Origins. I was born in Kazakhstan and my husband was born in Latvia, but his parents are both from Ukraine. We are so grateful to be part of the Cottonwood Community.

As a family, we love serving together in our local church. We also enjoy game nights and exploring new places through travel. Cooking meals together is a cherished tradition in our home and helps to bring us closer.

Recently, we’ve discovered a new passion for skiing and we are thankful to the Cottonwood School for making this possible. Thanks to the school’s support, our children have had opportunities to experience skiing, visit museums, and participate in many other exciting activities that have broadened their horizons.

We deeply appreciate the experiences and memories we are creating together as a family!
